New campaign sets out to make Britain a proud place to bring the baby

A new campaign, called Bring the Baby, has been launched to improve baby-friendly facilities in the UK.

Bring the Baby aims to address inconsistencies in baby friendliness and is looking at standards for baby changing and breast feeding facilities, among other issues, in a bid to help parents have a pleasurable rather than arduous experience when out and about.

“There seem to be such huge inconsistencies in baby friendliness, not just between our high-street businesses, but within those businesses themselves,” said Bring the Baby founder Justine Pannett.

“We want to recognise those businesses that go the extra mile for parents and provide good facilities and encourage those that could do better to make improvements.”

Bring the Baby will be focussing on issues such as encouraging businesses to empty nappy bins more frequently, provide baby changing facilities in unisex areas and be more welcoming to parents when they’re feeding their babies.

“With more than 2,000 babies born every day it makes financial sense for businesses to be baby-friendly. Parents are more likely to stop for a coffee or lunch or meet up with other mums or dads if they know they are going to receive a warm welcome by staff and other customers and be able to change their baby in a clean and hygienic environment.”

Bring the Baby will be using the experiences of parents to frame the direction of the campaign and is inviting mums and dads to get in touch with comments about businesses that have established high standards and those that could do better.
