Last call for Loo Fame

Entries for the 2007 Loo of the Year Awards close on 31st July and, if you 're proud of your staff, customer or visitor toilet facilities, you need to act fast.

"Over 1,000 entries are expected from our 57 different entry categories" quotes Awards Director, Richard Chisnell. "Apart from the many Local Authority participants, who benefit from having an annual, independent audit of their public toilet facilities, we have increasing interest from a wide range of other providers, including retail outlets, leisure facilities, pubs and caravan sites. 2007 marks the twentieth anniversary since the Awards were introduced and the competition to find the best places to go ‘away from home ’, expands further each year".

Each entry receives an unannounced visit from an authorised Awards Inspector and, a star grading system is used involving over 100 different inspection criteria.

There are a wide range of National Awards for the cleaning staff who keep toilets sparkling as well as Awards for baby and adult changing as well as accessible facilities and family friendly facilities.

The 2007 Awards are sponsored by The British Cleaning Council, along with sanitary ware manufacturer Armitage Shanks and washroom services provider Initial Washroom Solutions.

The four national tourism bodies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also support the Awards, which help enhance the UK's reputation abroad.

The 2007 Awards will culminate in a prestigious Awards Presentation Ceremony on Wednesday 5th December at The National Motor Cycle Museum, near Birmingham.
