Public Toilet Provision - The Way forward

WEDNESDAY 19TH JULY 2006
ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS, 11 ST ANDREWS PLACE, REGENTS PARK, LONDON

The British Toilet Association and Encams (who run the Keep Britain Tidy campaign) are holding an important one day Seminar on Wednesday 19th July to discuss issues affecting the provision of public toilets, together with ideas on how to raise and maintain standards.

Local Government Minister, Phil Woolas, will provide the keynote address, outlining the Government’s current policy towards public toilet provision, particularly relating to the non-statutory nature of this front line public service.

Encams will be launching their latest “knowledge bank” CD, devoted to public toilets and other subjects to be covered include the call, by The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, for dedicated drug consumption rooms; the state of London’s public toilets, following the report prepared by The London Assembly; the impact on visitors’ impressions of Britain through lack of public toilets in tourist areas and the launch of a new toilet cleaning staff training scheme, developed by The British Institute of Cleaning Science.

There is no charge for this event and anyone interested in attending should register with Encams by email: events@encams.org.

The Seminar is intended primarily for Local Authority managers responsible for public toilet policy and provision as well as anyone keen to encourage higher standards of provision in public places.

Places are limited so early booking is advised.
