MICHAEL HOWARD WRITES LETTER TO THE BTA

The Leader of the Opposition has written to the BTA about the Conservative stance on public toilet legislation as follows:

Dear Mr Chisnell

Thank you for your email of the 23rd July.

I do appreciate the point you make, and will reflect further on it, but I feel very strongly that the fewer things which are run on the basis of Whitehall dictats, the better.

I understand your motivation in wanting a statutory framework for the provision of public toilets, but I think that in practice this would prove difficult and costly to administer ? and would in the end militate against better provision of public toilets.
