BTA AIMS TO ESTABLISH TOILET ACADEMY & DISPLAY CENTRE

The British Toilet Association is campaigning to improve standards and availability of 'away from home' toilets in all types of location.

Support for the Association and its objectives is rapidly gaining momentum - witness:

  • Increasing Association Membership
  • Intense media interest: 50+ radio/TV interviews in 7 days, marking the 150th anniversary of the first public toilet
  • Private Members Bill to be table in new session of Parliament requesting a statutory provision framework

The BTA urgently requires an operating base to allow for expansion of its campaigning activities.

A unique opportunity has arisen to establish an industry wide operational HQ which would incorporate:

  • BTA Offices
  • A Product and Service Display Centre for the Washroom Industry
  • Meeting and Conference facilities
  • An 'away from home toilet' Training Centre - the 'British Toilet Academy'

Introducing the Pump House, Winchester

Photo of the Pump House, Garner Road, WinchesterWinchester's famous Victorian sewerage pumping station is enviably situated adjacent the Water Meadows and Winchester College playing fields and yet barely 2 minutes from the M3 motorway.

Built in 1878 and now replaced by an electric pumping station, the building has undergone a major refurbishment to provide over 6000 ft2 of modern office and display areas, retaining a number of original features.

There is generous car parking provision.Photo of the wheel outside the Pump House, Winchester

It is a unique and ideal building to house toilet related activity - a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The Vision

The vision is a bold one and is obviously not possible without widespread industry backing and support.

The BTA could find local office accommodation and carry on expanding its campaigning activities - behind closed doors!

Our campaign has made good progress due to the very high profile established through overt marketing and media/user involvement.

Photo of rear of the Pump House, WinchesterWe need now to capture the imagination and support of the many companies involved in providing product and service solutions to today's and tomorrow's toileting needs.

The establishment of a Product and Service Display Centre, attached to a a Meeting centre and Training Academy, all serviced by the Association campaigning to raise standards, has major impact potential. An industry 'beacon', where all the constituent parts of the 'away from home' toilet mix come together and unite with a common purpose.

Toileting, next to eating and drinking, is No.3 in the human survival stakes - we can't avoid it or ignore it! It can only get better.

With a united focus on a -unique- campaigning centre, we have the opportunity to significantly raise the profile of the campaign and provide tangible benefits to our commercial supporters.
